Epoxotherm Applications

Epoxotherm Applications

Application methods:

  • Airless or Pot Sprayed (preferred method): tip size .035; apply in four (4) coats
  • Roller or Brush: apply in four (4) coats
  • Add an additional coat for vertical surfaces

Applied rate:

  • 64 sq. ft./gal. (6 sq.m./gal.)

Film thickness:

  • Wet: 40 mils (1 mm) per coat
  • Dry: 30 mils each coat (750 microns) per coat
  • Total dry thickness, 120 mils (3 mm) recommended or four (4) coats

Temperature:

  • 32° F (0° C) – 100° F (38° C)
  • Colder temperatures will increase dry time (cure time can double at temperatures below 40° F)

Dry times:

  • 1 hour to touch
  • 5 hours to recoat or handle

Full cure:

  • 14 days

Precautions:

  • 4 hour pot life (normal temperatures of 70° F (20° C)). Shorter pot life at hotter ambient temperatures.

Limitations:

  • As with any epoxy, Epoxotherm will chalk and loose gloss when exposed to UV rays. For outdoor use, overcoat with Enamo Grip or Super Therm®
  • Do not use as a stand-alone floor coating.
  • Do not use directly on food preparation surfaces.
  • Do not apply over chlorinated rubber. Even after sandblasting, the chlorination can attack the solvents and make the coating brittle.
  • Epoxotherm is not as elastomeric and does not adhere to metal, tar, rubber, etc. as well as Super Therm®. Must rough surface of substrate for best adhesion.
