Moist Metal Grip Application

Moist Metal Grip Application

Although Moist Metal Grip can be applied by non-professionals, we recommend using a certified applicator.

Preparation:

  • Surface must be clean with no loose debris or particles, rust, dirt, oil, films or residues of any kind. Moist Metal Grip will cover previous coatings if they are fully adhered to the surface.
  • Mechanically stir base.
  • Mix curing agent into base and let sit for 30 minutes before applying.

Application methods:

  • Airless or Pot Sprayed: tip size .017
  • Roller or brush
  • When used in exterior applications, Moist Metal Grip should be overcoated with Enamo Grip to prevent against chalking and loss of gloss.

Applied rate:

  • Metal: 250 sq. ft./gal. (23 sq.m./gal.)
  • Concrete: 200 sq. ft./gal. (18 sq.m./gal.)

Film thickness:

  • Wet: 6.5-8 mils (165–200 microns)
  • Dry: 3.25-4 mils (80-100 microns)

Temperature:

  • 32° F (0° C) – 100 degrees F (38° C)
  • Colder temperatures will increase dry time

Dry times:

  • 8 hours to touch at 72° F (22° C)
  • 24 hours to recoat
  • If ambient is below 72° F (22° C), dry times are extended.

Full cure:

  • 10 days
  • Can be submerged after 48 hours

Precautions:

  • 4 hour pot life and affected by ambient temperature (cooler – longer/hotter – shorter)

Limitations:

  • Do not use as a single-corrosion coat system exposed to the sun. Epoxies will chalk when exposed to UV over time.
  • Do not use on food preparation surfaces that are in direct contact with foodstuffs.
  • Do not apply over chlorinated rubber. Even after sandblasting, the chlorination can attack the solvents and brittle the coating film before it cures.
