Rust Grip®: Liquid Reinforcement and Encapsulation Coating
Rust Grip® is the one surface protection coating that also acts as a full containment covering for interior and exterior applications. As a three-coats-in-one system, it acts as a primer, intermediate coat, and top coat with a single application that strengthens surfaces to 6780 psi (473 bar) after 21 days, (concrete is 3500 psi by comparison). Rust Grip® is a metallic-based, moisture-cure polyurethane coating designed to penetrate deeply into the pores of the substrate, then to swell into the pores to block out air, gases, and moisture. It can be applied directly over existing flash/surface rust, effectively anchoring, locking, and encapsulating the surface; this prevents further oxidation.
Where there is no air and moisture, there is no corrosion. Rust Grip® stands up to acids, salts and caustic materials with no loss of strength. It scored a perfect 10 for the ASTM B117 salt spray test (15,000 hours) using a coat of only 6 mils (6/1,000 inch) thick.
As a simple one-coat system, with minimal preparation and no white sand blasting of the surface necessary in most cases, Rust Grip® can dramatically cut labor, product, and clean up costs, as well as the time required to complete a project.
Rust Grip® can, and has been, used on bridges and on tough environmental areas with a simple power wash of 3500 psi or less. When used as a containment coating, it can safely encapsulate asbestos, lead-based paint, and bio-hazardous materials.
