Super Base Application

Although Super Base (HS) can be applied by non-professionals, we recommend using a certified applicator.

Preparation:

  • Surface must be clean and completely dry, with no loose debris or particles, rust, dirt, oil, films or residues of any kind. Super Base (HS) will cover previous coatings if they are fully adhered to the surface and showno surface gloss.
  • Mechanically stir.

Application methods:

  • Airless or Pot Sprayed: : tip size .032; apply in one coat using crosshatch method
  • Roller: use 3/4″ nap commercial roller; apply in two coats
  • Brush: use soft bristle brush; apply in two coats

Applied rate:

  • 30 sq. ft./gal. on roofing (2.8 sq.m./gal.)
  • 100 sq. ft./gal. (9 sq.m./gal.) on walls or to seal wood

Film thickness:

  • All Roofing: 30 – 35 mils dry (750 – 875 microns dry). Wet: 45 mils – 53 mils
  • Walls or Verticals: 10-11 mils dry (400-500 microns wet) to seal pores. Wet: 15 mils – 17 mils
  • Note: As a sealant for roofing over small cracks or holes, apply at a total of 50 mils wet / 33 mils dry (1.25 mm wet / 0.8 mm dry)

Temperature:

  • 50° F (10° C) – 95° F (35° C)
  • 70° F (21° C) best

Dry times:

  • 1 hour to touch @ 70° F (21° C)
  • 4 hours to overcoat

Full cure:

  • 10 days

Limitations:

  • Not suitable for underwater use of any kind. Do not use as floor coating
  • Do not use directly on food preparation surfaces
  • Do not use as an insulating coating
