Application

Application:

Although Super Therm can be applied by non-professionals, we recommend using a certified applicator.

Preparation:

  • Surface must be clean and completely dry, with no loose debris or particles, rust, dirt, oil, films or residues of any kind. Super Therm will cover previous coatings if they are fully adhered to the surface
  • If over-coating an existing paint, make sure all gloss is removed from surface by sanding or minimum blast
  • Mechanically stir, as ceramics will tend to settle
  • Remove all filters from spray equipment

Application methods:

  • Airless or pot sprayed: tip size .029-.032; apply in one coat using crosshatch method
  • Roller: use 3/4″ nap commercial roller; apply in two coats
  • Brush: use soft bristle brush; apply in two coats
  • Vertical surfaces should be applied in two coats

Applied rate:

  • 100 sq. ft./gal. (9 sq.m./gal.)

Film thickness:

  • Wet: 14-16 mils (350-400 microns)
  • Dry: 8-10 mils (200-250 microns)

Temperature:

  • 50° F (10° C) – 194° F (90° C)
  • 72° F (22° C) best

Dry times:

  • 1 hour to touch at 72° F (22° C)
  • 4 hours to recoat

Full cure:

  • 14 – 21 days

Limitations:

  • Not suitable for underwater use of any kind
  • Not recommended as the only fire protection material to be used in residential or industrial construction
  • Do not use as a stand-alone floor coating
  • Do not used directly on food preparation surfaces
  • Super Therm can be tinted, but darker colors will reduce effectiveness
