Field Testing-Actual Energy Savings

Field Testing Data

A strong coating is one that will perform well in both laboratory testing and field testing. Provided are examples of how Super Therm has worked for companies and organizations around the world.

US – Tucson International Airport

After Super Therm was applied (374,800 square feet), the airport saw a 22% reduction in total energy usage (lighting, elevators, food facilities, etc) and a 40% reduction in air conditioning costs. (August, 2009)

US – Las Vegas

Clark County School District’s engineering study documents reduction in roof temperatures from 161°F down to 97.5°F (2° over ambient air temperature) in Las Vegas. CCSD of Nevada is the 2nd largest school district in the US.

US – Indiana

Blue Chip Casino Ship (largest casino ship in the United States) in Michigan City, Indiana, uses Super Therm as the only insulation for hull (inside and outside) of ship and for HVAC ductwork.

US – Florida Energy Office

Application of Super Therm on a residential roof indicated the solar heat gain was reduced by 20-30% in February in the State of Florida. Estimated return on investment was 2.2 years. Study performed by Florida Energy Specialists.

Performance in Japan

(Nissan Building treated with Super Therm)

Mitsubishi -14° C reduction in room temperature
Sony – Coated roof and walls of a test facility at their factory. KW usage dropped 78% over the summer months from previous year to coated year. The cost was paid back in energy savings in only 13 months on a large facilities building (430,000 sq ft.)
Subaru – 24° C reduction in roof surface temperature
Sumitomo Eton Nova Co. – Temperature underneath the insulated roof was reduced by an average of 12° C over one month
Hitachi Electric- 35° C (63° F) reduction in temperature under the roof
Sekisui- 12° C (22° F) reduction in room temperature
Yokohama Tire-Rubber- 19° C (34° F) reduction in room temperature
Kirin Brewery-15° C (27° F) reduction in room temperature
Mitsubishi Material- 26° C (47° F) reduction in roof surface temperature
Sumitomo Light Metal Industry- 17° C (31° F) reduction in room temperature
Panasonic – Matsushita Electric- 24° C (43° F) reduction in surface temperature
YKK Zippers – 5° C reduction in room temperature in factory area, office area eliminated need for 3 out of 7 A/C units
Architectural review of a roof coated with Super Therm and after 10 years found no loss of reflectivity
